There are 3 categories of customization options when it comes to windows:
- Framing Material

- Miscellaneous Options/Add-ons
Window Framing Material Options
Your windows have to have a frame. The frame can seem nonexistent or nearly invisible to most people, but it does have to be there. There are a few different framing material options available. When you hear the terms “vinyl windows” or “aluminum windows”, they are not talking about the glass. The frame the glass sits in could be vinyl or aluminum, which is why we use it as a naming convention for commercial windows. There are a few framing material options available, such as:
- Vinyl
- Aluminum
- Wood
- Glass
- Steel
Depending on your building, you may want a different framing material.
Glass Material Options
Once you’ve chosen your frame and designed it to your liking, it’s time to pick the actual glass that goes into it. Oftentimes, apartment owners and other commercial property managers don’t even consider this stage. You do have a choice in which glass goes into your commercial windows. Some of the glass material options available include:
- Tempered Glass
- Laminated Glass
- Mirrored Glass
- Patterned Glass
If your windows are heavily used, then a more durable glass should be used. If you’re considering glass that’s purely for aesthetics, then patterned and mirrored glass are the 2 best options for you.
Miscellaneous Options/Add-ons
There are also miscellaneous options available for all commercial buildings. Anything that you can think of to make your windows a little more customized to match your building that is not materials is filed under miscellaneous. - Standard Tint
- High-Performance Tint
